It all started in 1933 when Max Blob, wanting to have a gathering place for his friends from the old country, built a small frame building on his farm in Jessup, MD. It housed a bowling alley and a few tables. Eventually, it became so popular that he opened it to the public as Blob’s Park, a German beer garden complete with dancing every weekend accompanied by live Polka bands.
Although this DC landmark was closed shortly after news years day 2008 …it has recently been revitalized to its splendor and glory, Blob’s Park is now reopened. So no, our name does not reference the creature that lurks in the night. We’re simply staying true to our locale.
